Sharing the idea in a campaign speech last week, Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton stated, "I don't know who created 'Pokémon GO' but I'm going to try to find a way to connect and bring Pokémon GO into the election."
Now members of the former Secretary of State's campaign have been scouring the streets looking for "Pokémon hunters" in the hopes of diverting their attention for a few minutes so they can register to vote.
At a recent event in Ohio, the Democratic campaign used a Pokémon attraction feature called the “Lure Module” to “entice” players to hunt for free Pokémon and “conveniently” learn more about candidate Hillary Clinton.
Pokémon GO is a role-playing game that has taken the world by storm since its launch in the US, Australia, and New Zealand in early July. Using Global Positioning Services (GPS) technology, players can play for free, walking around to hunt for virtual Pokémon monsters in real locations.
Smartphones notify when Pokémon appear on the screen, players can try to catch and train it to participate in battles.
