Gambling by lottery, man receives prison sentence
(Baonghean.vn) - Cu accepted to write down lottery numbers for more than 10 million VND and then transferred the lottery numbers to many other people to receive "commission".
On the morning of December 25, Tan Ky District People's Court tried the criminal case against Nguyen The Cu (born in 1977, residing in Hoang Trang hamlet, Tan Xuan commune, Tan Ky district) for the crime of Gambling.

According to the indictment, at around 6:00 p.m. on October 18, 2018, Nghe An Provincial Police caught Cu red-handed gambling by recording lottery numbers with Truong Minh Tu and Truong Van Xuyen. The total amount of money Cu received for recording lottery numbers for Xuyen and Tu was 6,170,000 VND.
During the extended investigation, Cu also confessed that on October 18, 2018, Cu directly and through the use of the phone number 0389033003 to record lottery numbers for the subjects with a total amount of 10,006,000 VND. Of which, Phan Van Phu with the amount of 330,000 VND, Cao Van Loc with the amount of 2.3 million VND, Phan Huy Nguyen with the amount of 1,005,000 VND, Tran Dang Khoa with the amount of 40,000 VND and Cao Xuan Truong with the amount of 161,000 VND.
Because Cu was arrested before the Northern Lottery draw, the total amount of money that Cu gambled by betting on lottery numbers was 10,006,000 VND.
In this case, the subjects Loc, Phu, Nguyen, Khoa and Truong were the ones who gambled with Cu, however, the amount of money they gambled was less than 5 million VND, so the investigation agency handled the administrative case.
During the investigation, Cu also confessed to recording the lottery numbers and then transferring the lottery board to a person named Giang (residing in Quy Hop town) using the phone number 032711826 to receive commission. Tan Ky District Police conducted verification, but have not yet determined the identity and address of the subject.
Cu also stated that there were subjects named Tien and Tam Bao who used other phone numbers to record lottery numbers, lottery numbers and skewers with a total amount of 8,540,000 VND. Tan Ky District Police have conducted verification, however, the identities and addresses of the subjects have not been clearly determined. The investigation agency will continue to verify and clarify.
At the end of the trial, the jury sentenced Nguyen The Cu to 7 months in prison, suspended, and 14 months probation.
