By defeating Chonburi, Vietnam U22 advances to the semi-finals of the BTV Cup 2012.
Van Thang's brace helped the Vietnam U22 team secure a 2-1 victory against Chonburi FC of Thailand.
On the afternoon of November 20th, the final round of matches in Group A of the 2012 BTV Cup International Football Tournament took place.
Due to a disadvantage in goal difference compared to Chonburi FC, the Vietnam U22 team has only one option: defeat the Thai team to advance to the next round.
Therefore, Coach Hoang Van Phuc's players entered the match with a very high level of determination, putting a lot of pressure on the opponent's half of the field.

But it wasn't until the 57th minute of the match that the Vietnam U22 team finally broke the deadlock when Van Thang tapped the ball into the net from close range after a cross from Danh Ngoc, making the score 1-0.
After taking the lead, Coach Hoang Van Phuc's players played with more enthusiasm and created many opportunities in front of Chonburi's goal, but unfortunately, the strikers failed to capitalize on them.
In the 89th minute, the Vietnam U22 team unexpectedly found themselves in a difficult situation when a defensive error allowed Chonburi FC to score the equalizer, making the score 1-1 with a precise finish from Katxutti.
It seemed that coach Hoang Van Phuc and his team would have to say goodbye to the BTV Cup 2012 early due to the limited time remaining. However, determination and effort helped the U22 Vietnam team squeeze through the narrow gap to advance to the semi-finals with Van Thang's second goal in the third minute of added time.
With this victory, the Vietnam U22 team finished second in Group A and, along with group leader Becamex Binh Duong, qualified for the semi-finals of the BTV Cup 2012.
