List of errors recorded by AI cameras
Behaviors recorded by AI cameras include: running red lights, driving in the wrong lane, driving in the wrong direction, stopping and parking illegally, not wearing a helmet, using a phone while driving, not wearing a seat belt, carrying too many people or speeding.
Many people still mistakenly think that only cars are fined, but in fact, AI cameras that issue fines record violations of both motorbikes and scooters. Violations are sent to vehicle owners for processing. If they do not comply, vehicle owners may be denied registration or inspection.
The Traffic Police Department said that in the coming time, it will continue to perfect the legal process to bind the responsibility of motorbike owners, and at the same time expand the application of AI cameras to issue fines in surveillance, aiming to build a safe and civilized traffic culture.
The highlight of the AI camera for issuing fines is its ability to scan 360 degrees, recognize faces and license plates at a distance of 500 - 700 meters. The captured images are transmitted directly to the Command Center for analysis and processing.
When detecting a violation, the AI camera system will automatically send a notification to the vehicle owner via the VNeID, VNeTraffic or local police applications within minutes. Specifically:
On Le Van Luong Street, within 24 hours of the deployment of the AI camera to issue fines, the system detected 29 cases of driving in the wrong lane, mainly in the BRT lane. On Pham Van Bach – Hoang Quan Chi Street, where the AI camera to issue fines was previously installed, there were 239 cases of not wearing helmets and 169 cases of running red lights recorded.
On the Noi Bai – Lao Cai highway, AI cameras have recorded more than 2,000 vehicles, detecting many drivers without seat belts. The number of violations has decreased significantly after people learned that this area was monitored by the AI system.

In addition to monitoring and handling violations, the AI camera system also integrates smart traffic light control capabilities. By analyzing traffic flow in real time, the camera can automatically adjust the green-red light cycle, helping to reduce congestion and increase average travel speed on main roads.
In particular, in the near future, many inner-city streets will not need traffic police on duty at all times, as AI cameras that issue fines will take on the role of comprehensive surveillance.
In the third quarter of 2026, the system will be expanded to handle littering, sidewalk encroachment, illegal dumping, and automatically extract data to serve administrative sanctions.
Instructions for looking up violations from AI cameras that issue fines
People can easily look up violations through AI cameras that issue fines by accessing the Traffic Police Department's Electronic Information Portal, selecting the Look up violating vehicles through images section, then entering the license plate number and verification code.
In addition, the lookup can also be done directly on the VNeID application or contact the local Traffic Police Department for support.
