According to SCMP, Xi’s business card listed his title as chairman of the Shijiazhuang Grain Association, the capital of Hebei Province. He led a delegation representing the corn industry to visit Iowa, an agriculturally strong state in the US, in 1985.
After the business card went viral online, many people expressed surprise at Xi's position three decades ago.
The business card was also revealed in a report by state broadcaster CCTV yesterday, which interviewed Luca Berrone, who worked for the Iowa state government in 1985 and hosted the Chinese delegation.
Berrone took out a photo of the business card and recounted the details of the visit.
“He was very observant and curious about everything,” Berrone said.
