The Brazilian defender has reached a verbal agreement with the Etihad Stadium club, and is preparing to leave Juventus.

Dani Alves met with Juventus leaders on the afternoon of June 19 to negotiate the remaining terms of his contract, which had one year remaining. According to reports, the 34-year-old right-back was allowed to terminate his contract by the Turin club in the summer of 2017, so that he could negotiate with Man City. The Brazilian international was supposed to pay more than $5 million in compensation for the remaining time of his contract, equivalent to a year's salary. However, the Serie A champions have created conditions for Alves to go free.

According to Goal, Alves has agreed to sign a two-year contract with Man City, with specific terms having been verbally agreed. The club is willing to pay a compensation fee of around $6 million if Juventus does not agree to let Alves become a free player.

When he joins Pep Guardiola's team, Alves is expected to earn around $5.4 million a year, which equates to a weekly salary of $107,000 - the same as winger Nolito, who moved to Man City from Celta in the summer of 2016. At Juventus, Alves is paid around $75,000 a week plus performance bonuses. Previously, his weekly salary at Barca was around $126,000.

Man City insiders told Goal that the contract with Alves will be completed soon.

Alves is one of the world's leading defenders. His collection of achievements includes a double of Serie A and the Italian Cup in his first season with Juventus. He also reached the Champions League final with the club last season (losing to Real Madrid). The right-back previously spent four years playing under coach Guardiola at Barca. At the Nou Camp, he and the team won a total of six La Liga titles, and three Champions Leagues.
