After Alves refused to give the ball to Cavani for a direct free kick and let Neymar take it, as well as the situation where Neymar asked Cavani to give up the right to take the 11m penalty, Diego Forlan said the two Brazilian stars acted like boys. The former Uruguay striker also said that Neymar lacked the respect for Cavani as he did for Messi, and also commented that Alves was unintelligent in interfering in the dispute between the two teammates.
Responding to Forlan, Alves wrote on Twitter on September 21: "I don't know what you saw, but I didn't take the ball from my teammates, they took it from me. And I also want to tell you, the last direct free kick goal at PSG was taken by me. So shut up and stop using my name to cause controversy."
After the on-field dispute, according to PSG coach Unai Emery, Alves took the initiative to reconcile by inviting his teammates out for a meal.
Also according to coach Emery, from the next match, he will designate priority players to take free kicks.
PSG currently lead the French league with six wins from six games. The Parisian side also got off to a good start in the Champions League, beating Celtic 5-0.
