The American director expressed disappointment when many strangers staged photos with him to promote his name.

- Constantly returning to Vietnam, why do you have such affection for this country?

- Friends and family members often ask me: “Why do you like Vietnam so much? What is so attractive about that country?” Every time, I answer: “The people there are the most energetic people you can meet on this planet. They are always enthusiastic and hard-working.”

I have lived in Hollywood for decades and one thing I have noticed is that there are no good things in America like in your country. It is the way people are always full of love, the way people treat each other and appreciate every little value. In my eyes, this is what makes Vietnam so special. Every time I set foot here, I feel like I am reborn, breathing fresh air.

Kong: Skull Island director Jordan Vogt-Roberts said that in Vietnam, people love each other more than in Hollywood.

- However, he also has many rumors about dating Vietnamese girls, wherever he goes, there are long-legged girls by his side. Many people think he is too "playful". Is that true?

- I can’t explain to you how much I was affected by those rumors. I came here with my own money, not sponsored by anyone. I turned down many jobs in Hollywood, many opportunities that brought in big income just because I had a love for Vietnam.

Because of this, my team and I are coming up with the idea of creating scholarships, charities, and even free film classes for children in Saigon. Every time I come here, I spend hours every day going to schools, talking to children and students, trying to inspire them to pursue their passion for art. In addition, I also meet with local film crews to learn more.

You see, I try to bring projects, jobs. However, all people care about is the picture of me with the girls. This makes me very upset and upset. And you know who took those pictures, it was the girls.

Many of them I don’t even know, I just meet them at events. They ask to take pictures and then they send them to the press. I can’t believe how many people are so desperate for fame and attention. I feel like I’m being used. Sometimes this makes me feel down.

After a few times, many relatives warned me to be more careful when going out.

- How do those scandals affect your work?

- I am still determined with my choice so I will definitely spend a lot of time in Vietnam. This time, my health is not good, but I am willing to change the date of my return to the US to have time to meet students at the invitation of a university.

Of course, the love rumors and photos with girls made my job more difficult, making people think that I came to Vietnam just for these things and not for work.

I am very sad to be misunderstood like that, people only care about external things without recognizing what I am really doing. However, ignoring those things, I affirm that I still love Vietnam, I know what I am doing and no one or nothing can stop that.

- The girls you often meet are Ngo Thanh Van, Emily Hong Nhung and Truong Nhi...?

- I have a lot of admiration and respect for the people I have had the opportunity to meet, for example Ngo Thanh Van. I am also very impressed with Yaya Truong Nhi, she is a hard-working person. However, I also met many people I did not know but intentionally took photos to send to the press. I will not mention their names here.

Some of them later felt guilty and apologized for staging those photos. At that time, I just said, “Why did you do that?”

- Ngo Thanh Van and Yaya Truong Nhi, will they have a role in your next film project?

- I swear that I will never give anyone a role just because they are my friend or girlfriend. I only care about whether they are the best choice for the character. If you work based on existing relationships, you will definitely be a bad director.

The American director has a close relationship with Ngo Thanh Van. In the photo, she invites Jordan to visit the set of Co Ba Sai Gon.

- What stage is your plan to buy a house in Vietnam?

- I have also tried to look at a few apartments but have not decided where to live yet. Meanwhile, my belongings in the US are packed and ready to move. Hopefully by the end of this year, I will have an official house in Vietnam, a place that I can consider my home. Maybe I will have to look for a house for a while longer. At that time, I will disguise myself, hide this beard and wear a mask so that no one will recognize me.

- In the near future, what specific activities will you have in Vietnam?

- In September, I will return to Vietnam for a film project with Danny Do, continue activities with young people and find a house. In addition, I also cherish the idea of inviting influential people in Hollywood such as directors and actors to this country. They are all people who can help spread the message of how wonderful Vietnam is to the world. In return, Vietnamese cinema also has the opportunity to develop further. Not long ago, I invited the director of Star Wars.

In November, I also went to London to attend an event promoting Vietnam tourism as an ambassador. Hopefully everything will go smoothly.

- Can the audience expect another film project about Vietnam from you?

- After Kong, I received many invitations to direct superhero and sci-fi projects... They were all big projects, but I decided to decline because I wanted to do a project about Vietnam. However, I don't want to rush into a new film, but will take time to rest and get used to life in Vietnam.
