A retired man in Australia recently dug up a 3.23kg gold nugget, estimated to be worth up to 110,000 USD (about 2.5 billion VND).
According to Daily Mail, this man spent many years searching for gold in Western Australia using a metal detector.
The unnamed man said he had been digging in the Goldfield area with a metal detector for years until he bought a new device.

“When I was almost done digging, I was surprised to find a 3.23kg gold nugget, of which 2.11kg was gold,” said the retiree. “It was 80cm deep, mixed with clay, so it took me more than 2 hours to dig it out.”
The man revealed that he dug up the gold nugget using a Minelab GPZ 7000 metal detector that costs about $8,000.
“I know him, he’s a gold prospector,” said Rob Anderson, a friend of the man who found the nugget. “He’s been very successful over the years.”

The nugget is nicknamed the “duck foot” because of its shape. Earlier this month, a Canadian gold mining company announced it had found 262kg of gold worth $11.5 million at the Beta Hunt mine in the Goldfields region near Kambalda.
The two gold nuggets the company dug up weighed 95kg and 63kg respectively. On September 20, the company said it had dug up a total of 680kg of gold at the Beta Hunt mine.
