Digging the house foundation, discovered 140 kg of coins

(Baonghean.vn) - While digging the ground to renovate the grounds of the family church, descendants of the Nguyen Binh family in Quynh Chau commune, Quynh Luu district (Nghe An) suddenly discovered 140 kg of coins.

Mr. Nguyen Binh Dong - an eyewitness of the incident, recounted that on the morning of November 30, Nguyen Binh's descendants were digging the ground in the church grounds to renovate some auxiliary structures. When digging down about 1 meter, people discovered a block of metal lying underneath.

After excavation, the entire metal block was identified as copper coins strung together, with a total weight of 140 kg. After washing and cleaning, people discovered that the coins had letters and patterns; many curious people rubbed the coins vigorously with their hands, and a coppery red color appeared.

Immediately after that, Nguyen Binh's descendants carefully kept and preserved the coins in the church for descendants from all over to come and admire, and at the same time served the research work of determining the age.
