(Baonghean.vn) -The Sunflower Festival Beauty Contest aims to honor and enhance the beauty of the body, soul, and intellectual talent of young women of all ethnic groups in Nghe An province. Mr. Bui Cong Vinh - Director of the Provincial Cultural Center - the co-organizer of the Sunflower Festival Beauty Contest, talked to reporters about this contest.

- Sir, on December 19, the preliminary round of the Sunflower Festival Beauty Contest will be officially held and this will also be an interesting highlight of the first Sunflower Festival held in the province. Could you elaborate on the significance of the contest?

- The Sunflower Festival Beauty Contest aims to honor and enhance the beauty of the body, soul, and intellectual talent of young women of all ethnic groups in Nghe An province; encourage them to practice regularly towards comprehensive beauty. Through this, the Organizing Committee hopes to attract the interest and attention of many tourists nationwide to the Flower Festival of the province, thereby contributing to promoting the country, people and beautiful landscapes of the West as well as the unique cultural features of the ethnic minorities of Nghe An.

- We have had other beauty contests such as Miss Hang Bua, Miss Lang Sen Festival, Miss Cua Lo Beach Town, Miss Lang Vac Festival. Each beauty contest has its own unique features; surely the Miss Sunflower Festival Contest also creates its own charm to make a successful mark and maintain it in the future...

- It should be emphasized that the Sunflower Festival Beauty Contest is on a larger scale. The participants are not only contestants residing in Nghe An but also many other contestants from Nghe An who are studying and working in provinces and cities across the country; the event is organized flexibly and diversely as a cultural event.

In particular, with many contest contents such as traditional ethnic costume performance, evening gown, knowledge contest, behavior contest, talent contest... The contest not only honors physical beauty but also sees the soul and intelligence of Nghe An girls. Coming to the contest, in addition to immersing yourself in traditional festivals, you can also approach the customs and diverse and rich folk performing arts of the ethnic minority communities in Western Nghe An...

- In just a few days, the competition has officially begun. What can you share about the preparations and surprises in the upcoming competition?

- The contest will take place over a week, from December 19 to 27, 2016. The preliminary round will be held in Vinh City. The award ceremony will be held at the same time as the closing ceremony of the Sunflower Festival in Nghia Dan. During the contest, contestants will have a day of taking photos in the sunflower field and we have also invited experienced photographers to help make the contest a success. In the art program of the final night, there will be the participation of artists from Nghe An Music and Dance Theater and young artists from Vinh City.
