Winning first prize in Physics Olympiad, Nghe An male student wins full scholarship to go to Russia

The Olympic competition in Russian, Mathematics, Physics and Information Technology was held on the occasion of Russian Language Day by the Russian Center for Science and Culture in Hanoi.

The competition has been held for many years. However, in 2020, due to the impact of the Covid-19 epidemic, this is the first time it has been held online with the participation of more than 2,000 candidates from the North, Central and South of Vietnam. In particular, the Russian Olympic competition is for high school students specializing in Russian and first-year university students studying Russian nationwide. The Mathematics, Information Technology and Physics Olympic competitions are for grade 12 students nationwide. At the end of the competition, there were 200 winning students.

This is the first time Huynh Thuc Khang High School has had students participate. To prepare for this competition, student Nguyen Trong Hung and homeroom teacher Nguyen Van Tho had more than half a year to prepare.

After two preliminary and final rounds held in late March and early April, Nguyen Trong Hung excellently won first prize at the Physics Olympiad and was also the only non-professional contestant to win this first prize.

Sharing about the results, Nguyen Trong Hung said: I joined the contest with the hope of finding a scholarship to study in Russia. However, when I found out I won first prize, I was really surprised because this contest's strength was students from specialized schools. The review for this contest was also more difficult than other contests because the format of the questions focused on recognizing phenomena and the amount of knowledge was quite broad.

Previously, in 2019, Hoang Trong Hung was the valedictorian of Physics at the Provincial Excellent Student Competition in grade 11 and won first prize.

Teacher Nguyen Van Tho - the homeroom teacher and also the person who directly instructed Hung also said: Hung is an excellent student, passionate about Physics and is also a responsible and enthusiastic student. During the exam preparation process, although he had to prepare for both the high school graduation exam and the Olympic exam, Hung never showed signs of discouragement but was very diligent, diligent, and not afraid of hardship.

As a homeroom teacher, I have a special affection for Hung because he is very passionate about learning and has a special ability in Physics. During his studies, Hung showed seriousness, curiosity and progress with each lesson. However, Hung is a very modest, calm, and prestigious student who is trusted and believed by all his classmates.

With this victory, Nguyen Trong Hung will receive a full scholarship to study abroad at a prestigious university in Russia. Currently, Hung also plans to study Applied Mathematics and Informatics at the Higher School of Economics in Russia. According to Hung, Physics is still his passion and also his family's tradition. However, he will study information technology and in the future, information technology will be the foundation for development, including scientific research./.
