With a dominant 15-5 victory over Starrat Sirawalai in the sabre event, Le Dung concluded the second day of fencing competition with the fourth gold medal for the Vietnamese sports delegation.
Unlike her two teammates who competed earlier, Le Dung's match went smoothly thanks to her high accuracy in a relentless attack. She led 6-3 and then 8-3, before scoring seven more points.
Le Dung was previously the undisputed champion in the women's sabre event at the SEA Games. This was her fifth gold medal at the Games.
Earlier, Tran Thi Len defeated Raguin Harlene with a score of 11-7 in the women's sabre event.
Both played an attacking style, but the Vietnamese fencer got off to a poor start, falling behind 3-5. However, she didn't lose heart. Len gradually exploited her opponent's weaknesses due to her overly aggressive style, taking a 10-6 lead before securing a spectacular victory.

"This victory is incredibly meaningful to me. This might be the last SEA Games I participate in, against an opponent I've never beaten before," Len shared with VnExpress. "I want to dedicate this precious medal to my young son."
In the men's singles foil final, Minh Quang opted for his signature defensive counter-attacking style against Panchan Nontapat. With his agile movements, he consistently led, from 3-2 to 6-4. However, as the match progressed, the Vietnamese fencer lost his accuracy, allowing his opponent, with nothing left to lose, to launch an overwhelming attack and continuously score points.

From the moment he fell behind 10-7, Minh Quang never had another chance to take the lead, even though he managed to equalize at one point at 10-10. Ultimately, he lost 11-15.
Nevertheless, this was an unexpected result. Men's foil fencing is not traditionally a strong point for Vietnam, especially for a 17-year-old athlete like Minh Quang.
