Early 2018, Nghe An Fire Police saved 19 lives

On the afternoon of March 15, Senior Lieutenant General To Lam - Member of the Politburo, Minister of Public Security led a delegation of the Ministry to work with the Nghe An Fire and Rescue Police. Reporting to the Minister and the working delegation at the meeting, Colonel Ho Sy Tuan - Director of Nghe An Fire Prevention and Fighting Police said that in the recent past, the unit's professional teams have strengthened the work of grasping, forecasting, and assessing the situation related to fire prevention and fighting and rescue work, so basically, there has been no major damage caused by fires in the area.

According to Colonel Tuan, in 2017, Nghe An province had 88 fires, causing property damage of about 20 billion VND; there were no major fires that caused serious damage to people and property. Also in this year, Nghe An Fire and Rescue Police organized 18 rescue operations, saving 32 people; found and recovered 12 bodies of victims of drowning and other accidents.

The unit has also coordinated with relevant units of Nghe An Police to investigate and clarify the causes of 75/88 fires, reaching a rate of 85.2%; 13 other cases are still under investigation and verification.

Meanwhile, since the beginning of the year, Nghe An has had 24 fires, causing about 2 billion VND in damage. Compared to the same period last year, the number of fires decreased by 6 cases and the number of deaths and injuries decreased by 2. During this time, the unit also organized 3 rescue operations, saving 19 people.
