Gunfight in Kashmir, 8 Indian soldiers killed
On August 26, eight policemen were killed in the Indian-controlled part of Kashmir after being attacked by gunmen.
According to Indian police, unidentified gunmen used guns and grenades to attack a checkpoint in Pulwama, about 28km from Srinagar city, known as the summer capital of Indian-controlled Kashmir.

Two militants were also killed in the clash. Two Indian police buildings were also set on fire during the clash.
In a statement in local newspapers, the Islamist group Jaish-e-Mohammad claimed responsibility for the attack./.
