David Haye wins knockout in first boxing comeback
Former world heavyweight champion knocked out opponent Mark de Mori in the first round of their fight in London yesterday, January 16.
The fight that marked David Haye's return to boxing ended quickly, with 55 seconds remaining in the first round.
De Mori was stunned by Haye's first jab, with the O2 Arena in complete control as the Briton, who had just returned to action after three and a half years, took over.
Haye delivered a series of precise punches, including a thunderous right hand that sent De Mori flying into the ropes and nearly unconscious. The 33-year-old Australian was disqualified after failing to get up after the referee's count.

De Mori is currently ranked 10th in the World Boxing Association (WBA) heavyweight rankings, has won 30 of his 33 professional boxing bouts, and is considered a knockout specialist with 26 victories. So, despite being less famous than previous opponents David Haye has fought, Mori is still predicted to be a difficult opponent for the British boxer.
This prediction also partly comes from the fact that Haye is not highly regarded because he has just returned after three and a half years away from the ring, counting from his victory over Dereck Chisora on July 14, 2012. The 35-year-old British boxer himself has also had some problems because he has just undergone surgery to treat a persistent shoulder injury.
However, the outcome of the fight at the O2 Arena was quite the opposite. Haye, despite a long layoff and a lingering shoulder injury, kept up his speed and power in his punches, and ended up knocking out De Mori in a landslide.

Haye returns to boxing with great ambition. The London-born boxer wants to regain the WBA heavyweight title he lost to Wladimir Klitschko in their fight on July 2, 2010. A knockout win over De Mori is therefore a good starting point for Haye on the road ahead.
The WBA heavyweight belt currently belongs to Tyson Fury, the 27-year-old British boxer who recently defeated Wladimir Klitschko in a match to unify five world heavyweight championships (WBA, WBO, IBF, IBO and The Ring) on November 28 last year.
