Average per capita income in rural areas increased from 12 million VND/person in 2008 to 23.5 million VND/person in 2012. Socio-economic infrastructure in rural areas has received increased investment… However, many shortcomings and limitations still exist, affecting the lives of farmers, such as: high prices of input materials and raw materials, while agricultural product prices are volatile and increase very slowly. Household farming remains the main production unit, lacking linkages and cooperation. Large-scale model farms have developed, but the market for their products remains difficult. Not many businesses participate in guaranteeing the purchase of farmers' products.
Concluding the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Van Ninh commended Long An for achieving high development targets compared to the national average, especially in poverty reduction and new rural development, and improving farmers' lives. Looking ahead, the Deputy Prime Minister suggested that Long An should review, evaluate, and continue to affirm the correct models it has chosen, linking production with the market, paying particular attention to the linkage between farmers and businesses...
