(Baonghean.vn) - Within the framework of a working trip to Nghe An province, on the morning of April 24, 2014, the European Union (EU) Political Counselor Delegation and representatives of the Embassies of member countries led by Ms. Delphine Malard - First Counselor of the European Union (EU) delegation worked with the Ethnic Committee, the Provincial Religious Committee and Nghe An College of Economics and Digital Technology No. 1.

Receiving and working with the delegation were leaders of the Ethnic Committee, the Religious Committee and leaders of relevant departments and branches.

Through the Government's national programs and targets, from 2011 to 2013, the ethnic minority and mountainous areas have received an investment of 1,336 billion VND (of which, the EU supported 38.5 billion VND). Thanks to the benefits from the projects and support programs, the people's lives have gradually improved. However, as a province with a large ethnic minority and mountainous area, the ethnic minorities live scattered in the mountainous areas, and the harsh natural conditions make life difficult.

Comrade Luong Quang Kinh - Head of the Ethnic Minorities Committee thanked the EU for its support in the past time. Hopefully, in the coming time, the province's ethnic minorities will continue to receive attention and support from EU countries, especially projects on hunger eradication and poverty reduction, infrastructure development in mountainous areas, remote areas, cultural preservation and development, and promotion of community tourism development...

Next, the Delegation had a working session with the Provincial Religious Committee on the implementation of religious policies and religious beliefs.

In the afternoon of the same day, the Delegation visited and worked at Nghe An College of Economics and Digital Technology No. 1.In 2013, the Faculty of Tourism of the school was funded by the Project Management Board of the “Programme for Developing Capacity for Environmentally and Socially Responsible Tourism” funded by the European Union with 3 model practice classrooms: Reception and Tour Guide Practice Room; Room Service Practice Room and Restaurant Practice Room. Thanks to that, the school has been able to train tourism human resources to meet the needs of tourism development.

Speaking at the meeting, Ms. Delphine Malard highly appreciated the results of the school's education and training work, promoting the effectiveness of the EU-funded project and affirmed that she will continue to support Nghe An to develop its tourism potential and promote the development of community tourism.
