(Baonghean.vn) - On January 5, in Hanoi, the Ministry of Public Security and the Ministry of National Defense held an online conference to evaluate the implementation results of Decree No. 77/2010/ND-CP of the Government on coordination in performing tasks in 2016, and directions for national defense and security tasks in 2017..

According to the conference report, in 2016, the world and regional situation continued to have complicated developments. Political instability, ethnic and religious conflicts, terrorism occurred in many places; the situation of cyber security, energy security, migration crisis, climate change... were unpredictable.

Domestically, politics are stable, national defense and security are maintained, and the economy and society have positive changes. However, hostile and reactionary forces are increasing; activities against the 12th National Party Congress, the election of the 14th National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels for the 2016-2021 term; thoroughly exploiting religious freedom, democratic freedom, human rights, and marine environmental incidents to incite anti-government protests... pose many challenges to the task of ensuring national security (ANQG), maintaining social order and safety (TTATXH) and national defense tasks. However, under the leadership of the Party and State, the military and police forces have thoroughly grasped and seriously and effectively implemented Decree No. 77/2010/ND-CP of the Government.

The two forces regularly maintain good information exchange, unify situation assessments, closely follow the political tasks of the country and each locality to advise the Party, State and Party committees and authorities at all levels to direct the successful implementation of the task of protecting national security, maintaining social order and safety and national defense tasks.

Organize the security protection of the area during holidays, Tet and during important political, cultural and foreign affairs events, especially the absolute security protection of the 12th National Party Congress, the election of National Assembly deputies and People's Councils at all levels for the 2016-2021 term. Advise on the effective resolution of complex emerging social issues, especially mass gatherings, protests, and disturbances of security and order, contributing significantly to firmly protecting the independence, sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity of the Fatherland, maintaining political stability, and effectively serving the socio-economic development tasks of the country.

Nghe An is a large province with complex terrain and many ethnic and religious people living there. Taking advantage of that feature along with the Formosa Company's waste discharge into the central coastal environment..., hostile forces and some extremists in the country colluding with reactionary organizations exiled abroad chose Nghe An to carry out activities to incite and sabotage the government. Along with that, other criminals, such as: drugs, human trafficking; firecracker trafficking; smuggling and commercial fraud... increased their criminal activities.

However, with the regular attention and direction of the Ministry of National Defense and the Ministry of Public Security; the strong leadership and direction of the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial People's Committee; and the close coordination between the military and police forces; Nghe An has destroyed and repelled all plots of peaceful evolution; national defense and security have been maintained; and the conference highly appreciated the coordination work in 2016.

At the conference, the two Ministries also agreed on key coordination tasks for 2017 with 8 contents: Continuing to thoroughly grasp and effectively implement the Party's viewpoints and policies, the State's policies and laws on national defense and security goals and tasks; coordinating to grasp the situation, develop plans and solutions to absolutely protect the safety of key targets and projects, important political, cultural and foreign affairs events, international conferences held in Vietnam, especially the 2017 Lunar New Year and activities within the framework of the APEC Conference...

In particular, special attention should be paid to doing a good job of information exchange; strengthening mass mobilization work, widely launching the movement of the entire people to protect national security, building a people's security posture associated with the entire people's national defense posture; promoting coordination in preventing and combating all types of crimes, especially high-tech crimes, drug crimes, human trafficking, smuggling, etc.
