Promoting the application of information technology in medical examination and treatment facilities.

(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of December 12th, Professor Dr. Le Quang Cuong - Deputy Minister of Health, along with a delegation from the Ministry, worked with the Nghe An Department of Health on the application of information technology in medical examination and treatment facilities.

Reporting at the meeting, representatives from the Nghe An Department of Health stated that, in recent years, to contribute to improving the quality of healthcare services, the sector has strengthened the application of information technology at medical examination and treatment facilities and reformed administrative procedures in the process of health insurance payment between the Social Insurance agency and medical examination and treatment facilities.

To date, the Nghe An Health sector has implemented IT applications in medical examination and treatment and health insurance payments, covering all levels from the province to the district, and all commune, ward, and town health stations. Specifically: 12 out of 12 provincial-level hospitals, 19 out of 19 district-level hospitals and health centers, and 480 out of 480 commune, ward, and town health stations have connected medical examination and treatment data and health insurance payments according to the plan set out by the Ministry of Health and Nghe An province.

Healthcare facilities have established LAN networks within their offices, applying management software such as Hospital Management; MISA accounting software for all units in the sector; and VNPT-iOffice operational management software at the Department's office and the Provincial Population and Family Planning Sub-department.

The software has proven effective in handling tasks and managing operations. 100% of incoming and outgoing documents are digitized and processed using document management software.

During the meeting, leaders from various units contributed ideas and shared experiences regarding difficulties and shortcomings in the implementation of IT-based medical examination and treatment services, particularly issues related to card codes, drug codes, consumables, and technical services. They then agreed on solutions for deploying these applications to provide patients with the best possible services.

The Deputy Minister and members of the delegation acknowledged the contributions and suggestions from the leaders of the Nghe An Health Department and representatives of health units. The Deputy Minister emphasized that the Department needs to focus on resolving remaining obstacles in the application of technology in hospitals. At the same time, in the coming period, the Nghe An health sector needs to further promote the application of information technology in medical examination and treatment activities.
