However, due to the changes of time, living conditions, and the impact of the integration process, the traditional culture of ethnic minorities is increasingly fading away, including traditional musical instruments. Faced with this situation, over the past many years, the authorities from the district to the grassroots have had many solutions to pass on, with the desire to preserve and maintain cultural values for future generations. To get to class, artisan Lay Dai Cuong has to travel more than 25 km. Although he is 70 years old and has to travel a long distance, Mr. Cuong still goes to class three times a week to pass on the unique cultural features of his people to the children and teenagers. Mr. Lay Dai Cuong shared: "The way to class is quite far, and traveling is also difficult. But when I come to class and see the children being well-behaved and eager to learn, it seems like all the fatigue is dispelled." Photo: Dinh Tuan

Mr. Luong Van Huynh - Head of the Club for Preservation and Promotion of Traditional Musical Instruments in Tuong Duong district said: “I have been passionate about the folk songs of the Thai ethnic group since I was a child. Because of my love for the sounds of the panpipe, flute, pi, tung tinh, etc., wherever there are people playing traditional musical instruments, I go there to learn and practice how to use them. Nowadays, not many young people are interested in traditional musical instruments. Because we want to preserve the unique cultural features of our nation for posterity, when we were invited to teach, not only me but all the members of the club agreed to spend time teaching the children for free during the summer”. Having talent and passion, after less than 1 month, Phuc has learned to play the flute and drums. Tri Phuc shared: "I now know how to play the flute, drums, and gongs. Coming here to study, I feel very happy". Opening a class to teach traditional musical instruments to the younger generation is extremely important in inheriting, preserving and promoting the values of national culture, creating opportunities for the younger generation to study and satisfy their passion. This is also a useful and healthy playground, contributing to preserving and promoting the national cultural identity, creating the foundation and premise to bring traditional cultural values to the younger generation, promptly discovering and nurturing new seeds.
