Speeding up the progress of the third dose of COVID-19 vaccine for people aged 18 and over
Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam requested to review and speed up the progress of the third COVID-19 vaccination for people aged 18 and over and the fourth vaccination for frontline forces.
In Official Dispatch No. 3182/VPCP-KGVX dated May 23, 2022, it is stated that: The Government, the Prime Minister and the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control have given very specific instructions on the goals to be achieved in the implementation of theCOVID-19 vaccineThe third dose is for people aged 18 and over, but so far the vaccination progress is slow.
To ensure the achievement of the set goals, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam requested the Ministry of Health to preside over and coordinate with the Government Office to review the number of people aged 18 and over who have not received the third dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, propose solutions to speed up the vaccination progress for these subjects; report to Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam before May 25, 2022.

At the same time, the Ministry of Health is studying the fourth vaccination dose for frontline subjects with weakened immunity; there is a plan to assess community immunity to proactively have solutions within its authority; in cases beyond its authority, it will promptly report to the Prime Minister for consideration and decision. According to the Ministry of Health, as of May 21, the total number of doses of COVID-19 vaccine injected was 219,084,118 doses. Of which, the number of doses injected for people aged 18 and over was 198,229,463 doses: 71,472,206 doses for the first dose; 68,705,056 doses for the second dose; 1,506,133 doses for the third dose; 15,163,236 doses for the supplementary dose; 41,317,426 doses for the first booster dose; 65,406 doses for the second booster dose.
The number of doses for children aged 12-17 is 17,424,119 doses: 8,926,085 doses for the first dose; 8,498,034 doses for the second dose. The number of doses for children aged 5-11 is 3,430,536 doses: 3,406,264 doses for the first dose; 24,272 doses for the second dose.
