New Government project on promoting science and technology activities in the livestock industry
Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang signed and issued Decision No. 1742/QD-TTg approving the priority project "Promoting science and technology activities in the livestock industry until 2030" (Project).

Prioritize promoting science and technology activities in the livestock industry by 2030.
The general objective of the Project is to enhance the quality and efficiency of scientific and technological activities in the livestock industry to meet the requirements of industrialization, modernization and international integration.
Application of science and technology in the fields of livestock industry
The project sets specific goals for applying science and technology in the following areas:
- Selecting and creating high-tech key livestock breeds to meet 95% of the demand for pig breeds, 85-90% of the demand for poultry breeds, 100% of the demand for waterfowl breeds, and 70% of the demand for beef cattle breeds.
- Animal feed nutrition: Technology transfer for production of protein-rich feed ingredients, supplementary feed, additives, meeting about 20-35% of demand; Effectively exploiting industrial - agricultural - aquatic by-products, biological products, herbs, natural compounds that are safe and environmentally friendly.
- Livestock barns and waste management: Technology transfer for manufacturing barn equipment to meet 80% of the need to ensure disease safety towards sustainable livestock farming;
- Processing livestock products such as meat, eggs, milk, honey and slaughter products: Technology transfer ensures that 50-55% of industrial-scale meat processing facilities and 90% of industrial-scale egg processing facilities reach advanced technology levels by 2030, diversifying products to serve domestic consumption and towards export.
Investing in upgrading a number of high-tech application laboratories in the livestock sector to regional standards
One of the tasks and solutions set out in the Project is to upgrade facilities and enhance research capacity for a number of research facilities and high-tech laboratories in the livestock sector in an in-depth, modern, and synchronous manner, on par with regional and international standards.
Prioritize investment in upgrading a number of research facilities in the three regions of North - Central - South to test and verify livestock breeds, animal feed and livestock products. Invest in upgrading a number of high-tech laboratories in the livestock sector to regional standards.
Maximize investment resources from the state budget, mobilize investment sources from enterprises, the private sector and foreign capital for investment in facilities serving research, application and transfer of science and technology in the livestock sector.
Research on selecting and creating key livestock breeds using high technology to transfer to domestic livestock breeding facilities
Another task of the Project is to research and select key livestock breeds using high technology to transfer to domestic livestock breeding facilities. To improve the efficiency of scientific and technological research activities in the field of livestock breeding.
Research on selecting and creating key livestock breeds with high productivity and quality, adapting to climate change, prioritizing the selection of core herds to improve the quality of the breeding system.
Research on technology for producing protein-rich feed ingredients, supplementary feed, additives, industrial, agricultural and aquatic by-products, biological products, herbs, natural compounds that are safe and environmentally friendly.
Research on the production of animal feed, supplementary feed, biological products to improve productivity, product quality, and replace antibiotics in animal husbandry. Alternative protein sources for animal feed production.
Research on the application of barn technology and livestock waste management to improve productivity, increase efficiency and reduce environmental pollution: ensure disease safety towards sustainable livestock farming...
