Nominate Mr. Tran Dai Quang for the National Assembly to elect President

This afternoon (March 31), the National Assembly Standing Committee presented a list of nominees for the National Assembly to elect the President to replace Mr. Truong Tan Sang.

Mr. Tran Dai Quang - Politburo member, Minister of Public Security is the only person nominated in the list presented by National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan on behalf of the National Assembly Standing Committee to the National Assembly to elect to hold the position of President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to replace Mr. Truong Tan Sang who was just dismissed by the National Assembly.

Mr. Tran Dai Quang was nominated for the National Assembly to elect President.

Mr. Tran Dai Quang was born on October 12, 1956, in Ninh Binh province. He is a member of the 13th National Assembly. He is a Professor and Doctor of Law and has held the following positions: Director of the Security Staff Department, Deputy Director General, Director General of the General Department of Security, Standing Member of the Party Committee of the People's Public Security, Deputy Minister of Public Security.

Member of the Central Committee of the 10th, 11th, and 12th terms, member of the Politburo of the 11th and 12th terms, member of the Government Party Committee, Secretary of the Central Public Security Party Committee, General, Minister of Public Security, member of the National Defense and Security Council.

In the afternoon of the same day, delegates discussed in the Delegation about the expected personnel to elect the President.

The results of the discussion at the National Assembly delegation and the explanation and acceptance of the opinions of the National Assembly deputies on the proposed personnel to elect the President will be reported by the National Assembly Standing Committee to the National Assembly on the morning of April 2.

Next, the National Assembly will discuss and vote to approve the list to elect the President.

The National Assembly elects the President by secret ballot before voting to pass the Resolution on electing the President.
