Request to investigate distortion of the Decision to approve Chinese textbooks
The Ministry of Education and Training has requested relevant agencies to investigate and handle distorted information and negative and misleading comments about the decision to approve Chinese textbooks for grades 3 and 4.
On December 1, 2023, the Minister of Education and Training issued Decision No. 4119/QD-BGDDT on approving textbooks for subjects and educational activities for grade 5 and Chinese textbooks for grades 3 and 4 used in general education institutions.
A representative of the Ministry of Education and Training said this is a normal activity, in accordance with the plan to appraise and approve the list of textbooks for Foreign Language subjects in the 2018 General Education Program.

In 2022, along with English, the Ministry of Education and Training approved textbooks for Korean, Japanese, and French for grade 3 for use in general education institutions. In 2023, the first phase will approve textbooks for grade 5, including 10 English textbooks and other subjects, along with Chinese for grades 3 and 4. It is expected that in December 2023, textbooks for Korean, Japanese, French, and Russian will continue to be approved.
However, according to the Ministry of Education and Training, after the above Decision was issued, on social networks appeared distorted information, negative and misleading comments about the content of the Decision. This negatively affected: the policy of renewing programs and textbooks; efforts to teach and learn Foreign Languages in general schools and caused confusion in society.

The Ministry of Education and Training said it has requested competent authorities to investigate and handle the above violations in accordance with the law.
