On April 9th, a representative from the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the Ministry maintains regular and close contact with the Vietnamese Embassies in South Korea and North Korea. According to information from Vietnamese representative agencies, life and activities for people in Seoul, Pyongyang, and other locations on the Korean Peninsula continue as normal.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is closely coordinating with domestic authorities as well as the Vietnamese Embassies in Seoul and Pyongyang to closely monitor the situation and prepare necessary measures to protect the lives and property of Vietnamese citizens in South Korea and North Korea.

A representative from the Consular Department added that on April 8th and 9th, representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs met with representatives from the North Korean and South Korean embassies in Hanoi, respectively.

Representatives from the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed deep concern about the current tense situation on the Korean Peninsula; they hoped that all parties would exercise restraint and make efforts to reduce tensions and maintain peace and stability; and they requested that North Korea and South Korea take necessary measures to ensure the safety of Vietnamese citizens' lives and property in their respective countries.

During the meetings, representatives from the North Korean Embassy affirmed that, according to the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, North Korea is responsible for protecting the safety of life and property of foreign diplomatic missions and international organizations in North Korea, including the Vietnamese Embassy.

A representative from the South Korean Embassy stated that South Korea will closely coordinate with foreign diplomatic missions in South Korea and take necessary measures to ensure the safety of foreign citizens in South Korea.
