Proposal to prosecute 3 crimes against female student who used poison to kill her father
The Investigation Police Agency, Ba Ria - Vung Tau Provincial Police, has just completed the investigation conclusion and transferred the case file to the People's Procuracy of the same level to propose prosecuting the accused Tong Thi Tung Linh with 3 charges, related to the case of using cyanide to poison her biological father to death that happened more than 7 months ago.
Accordingly, defendant Tong Thi Tung Linh, 21 years old, residing in Phuoc Nguyen ward, Ba Ria city, was proposed to be prosecuted for the crimes of Murder;Illegal trade in toxic substancesand Destruction of property.
According to the investigation, due to conflicts in daily life and being constantly scolded by her biological father, Mr. Tong Hong D. (54 years old), Linh had the idea of killing her father. To carry out her intention, in September 2021, Linh first mixed sleeping pills into a bottle of water for her father to drink, but failed. After that, Linh went online to learn about cyanide to poison her father.
On January 18, 2022, Linh took a bus from Ba Ria to Kim Bien market, Ho Chi Minh City and went to the stall of Ms. Tran Thi Ngoc Thu (31 years old, from Dak Lak) to ask to buy cyanide. Here, Linh begged and said that she was a student who needed to buy it for an experiment.

At this time, Ms. Thu called Ms. Le Thi Rua (42 years old, living in Ho Chi Minh City) to buy cyanide for 220,000 VND/kg, then sold it to Linh for 500,000 VND/kg.
After buying the cyanide, Linh sealed it in a backpack and returned to Ba Ria City. At around 8:00 p.m. the same day, when she saw Mr. D. drinking alone and knew that his father often drank water from the refrigerator, Linh put cyanide in 3 plastic bottles of water and put them in the refrigerator with the intention of giving them to his father to drink.
About 30 minutes later, Mr. D. opened the refrigerator to get a bottle of water, then went into the bathroom, locked the door, and vomited. From outside the door, when he no longer heard the sound of vomiting, Linh thought that Mr. D. was dead, so she went to sleep.
The next morning, Linh bought a hacksaw to break down the bathroom door, then dragged her father's body behind the fence of her house, bought bricks and cement to cover it up, and built a brick wall to cover it up to hide her actions.

However, still afraid of being exposed, Linh created a fake scene by burning her house with gasoline and then ran to her grandfather's house to give false information about a strange young man who broke into the house, grabbed Linh's hair, pulled her head and slammed it hard on the floor and announced that he had killed Mr. D. in revenge.
During the process of examining the scene, performing an autopsy and taking statements from Linh and related people, the Investigation Agency found that Linh's statements were inconsistent and had many suspicious points.
However, the next day when summoned to work again, Linh honestly confessed his actions.
Regarding this case, the Investigation Police Agency, Ba Ria - Vung Tau Provincial Police initially determined that Ms. Tran Thi Ngoc Thu sold cyanide to Linh without a license as prescribed, therefore, they are consolidating documents and evidence to consider criminal prosecution for the crime of illegal trading of toxic substances./.
