Proposing WEF support for building National Innovation Center

This morning, at the National Convention Center, Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue received Mr. Borge Brende, Executive Chairman of the World Economic Forum (WEF) - the organization that is coordinating with Vietnam to organize the WEF ASEAN conference.

Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue expressed his pleasure at meeting the WFF President again after the recent Davos 2018 conference in Switzerland, noting that many leaders of countries, global corporations, as well as senior Vietnamese leaders attending this event showed the interest of all parties in cooperation and investment in ASEAN in general and Vietnam in particular.

The Deputy Prime Minister appreciated the WEF for closely consulting with Vietnam in developing the theme, content and agenda of the Conference, and said that this year's WEF ASEAN theme is practical, in line with the world trend, and linked to the common theme of ASEAN 2018, "Resilience and Innovation".

“Vietnam is a responsible member of the ASEAN community. We hope that the WEF and the Executive Chairman personally will pay attention to Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc's proposals on the future of the WEF and ASEAN,” said Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue.

The WEF Executive Chairman said that up to now, businesses attending WEF ASEAN have all expressed their impressions of the conference and he highly appreciated the close cooperation of the host Vietnam which has brought benefits to Vietnam as well as ASEAN.

This year, Mr. Broge Brende forecasts that Vietnam's economy will grow by about 7%, with the stock market value doubling in the past two years. Therefore, WEF hopes that Vietnam will promote innovation in the 4th industrial revolution and WEF is ready to support Vietnam in building a digital economy based on science and technology.

Agreeing with the WEF Chairman, Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue also asked the WEF to support Vietnam in building an innovation center, supporting and incubating start-ups.

The Executive Chairman of the World Economic Forum (WEF) said that WEF will support Vietnam in improving its readiness to participate in the 4th Industrial Revolution.
