High school exam has 20% of 11th grade knowledge, no internationalization questions
The Deputy Director of the Department of Quality Management said that the exam consists of 60% basic knowledge and 40% advanced knowledge for classification. Of which, 20% is grade 11 knowledge.
In less than 2 months, candidates across the country will take the 2018 National High School Exam. In order to help candidates better understand the exam structure and review knowledge system, the Ministry of Education and Training has announced sample exam questions. However, many opinions say that this year's sample exam questions are quite difficult, causing confusion for students.

Regarding this issue, Mr. Sai Cong Hong, Director of the Department of Quality Management, Ministry of Education and Training, said that the national high school exam is closely linked to two purposes: high school graduation and using data to consider admission to colleges and universities. Therefore, the exam must closely follow the purpose, including 60% basic knowledge and 40% advanced knowledge for classification. In 2018, the exam was expanded with 20% of the content of grade 11 knowledge.
"With the recent sample test, I received some comments from the principal and the press that the test was too difficult in the differentiation section, we also accepted it," said Mr. Hong.
In addition to the 11th grade knowledge, this year's exam will have some new points compared to 2017. Specifically: "The Natural Science exam, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, the difficult questions will lean towards the nature of the phenomena of Physics, Chemistry, not just simple calculations. In the exam subjects, questions about experiments and practice will also begin to appear to be more suitable for the new GSK program in the coming time, but will still follow the roadmap to avoid students being shocked.
For schools that have a habit of skipping the practical part when teaching, students will have more difficulty when taking the exam. We hope this will have a negative impact on teaching in general schools, theory needs to go hand in hand with practice. In addition, the Math exam will also start to have some questions about Math theory so that students understand the nature of the problem," Mr. Hong informed.
The representative of the Department of Quality Management also said that the real exam questions will be used by the Ministry of Education and Training when the councils are completely isolated. Currently, the Ministry of Education and Training has selected sample exam questions from high schools nationwide as a source, helping the questions to be authentic and close to reality.
Mr. Sai Cong Hong also said that candidates do not need to be too stressed. The exam structure has up to 60% of basic knowledge in textbooks, so if you are too worried, focusing on reviewing difficult questions, while not sure if you can do it correctly, it will be a waste.
“It is a real waste for students to lose points in 60% of basic knowledge. Experience shows that students who study very basic knowledge get very high scores and do not make mistakes in hard knowledge. There are many easy questions in the exam, which can be solved right away. The questions are arranged from easy to difficult, gradually hierarchical, and candidates do them in order. If they want to get higher scores, candidates can delve deeper into their knowledge, but there will be no internationalized questions,” Mr. Hong noted./.
