With an open-ended exam, many candidates were excited after successfully completing the test.

With 120 minutes to complete the exam, many candidates emerged from the exam room this morning excited about the Literature exam, with many saying, "Never before have we been able to express ourselves so much in an exam." Interestingly, all three questions revolved around the themes of family affection, parental love, and love for one's homeland. Candidates were particularly delighted with the second question, as it provided an opportunity to express their feelings and love for their hometown.

As one of the first candidates to leave the exam room, Vo Anh Duc, a 9th-grade student from Dang Thai Mai Secondary School, said: "I wasn't very surprised by today's exam, especially considering the current circumstances. The exam allowed us to express our feelings for our homeland. For me, loving my homeland means being proud of my country, its people, and the finest aspects of our nation. Loving my homeland also means appreciating the contributions and sacrifices of generations before us who spared no blood and sweat to protect peace and national independence. I also think that as young people, we must do everything we can to introduce our homeland to friends around the world so that everyone understands and loves our homeland even more."

This year's Literature exam has three questions. Question 1, the reading comprehension section, is the easiest to score points on, requiring candidates to carefully analyze a stanza from the poem "Speaking to My Child" by poet Y Phương. Question 2 is an open-ended question, starting with the two lines "The forest gives flowers / The road gives kind hearts," and asks candidates to write an essay expressing their thoughts on "the meaning of homeland affection for people." Question 3, from the work "The Ivory Comb" by writer Nguyễn Quang Sáng, asks candidates to analyze a detail considered "unique and meaningful in highlighting the work's theme."

Success in the first exam motivates candidates to take the second exam this afternoon, the Foreign Language.

This year's exam was designed with an open-ended approach, reflecting the spirit of the current fundamental and comprehensive reform of education and training. The enthusiasm and eagerness of the candidates for the literature exam demonstrate the changes in schools' teaching and learning methods. At the same time, this is also a starting point for candidates to become familiar with the new exam format, which aims to both reflect knowledge and accurately assess students' thinking and abilities. At this point, after the first exam, Mr. Nguyen Trong Hoan, Deputy Chief of the Office of the Department of Education and Training, stated that no candidates were suspended or penalized. There were no incidents due to accidents, leaked exam questions, or lateness. However, 127 candidates dropped out of the exam without explanation. These could be candidates from the selective admissions program or independent candidates.

This afternoon, candidates will continue with the second subject, the Foreign Language exam.
