Leaving children in hot cars - a deadly mistake
The temperature in a car can rise very quickly when you close the doors, turn off the engine, or the air conditioning stops working.
"Just because of a change in my daily routine, I lost my child. It was my fault."Oh," Stephanie Salvilla, a woman living in Orlando, Florida, toldCNN"I needed clear vision to guide me, but that didn't exist at that moment."
Salvilla woke up from a four-hour nap one morning in july 2009. her husband was helping her put their 5-month-old son gannon in the car. she had forgotten to put a few bottles in the front seat as a reminder that he was in the back, even though she usually did.SAfter a day's work, Salvilla returned to his car and the unfortunate happened: Gannon died of heat stroke.

According to the US National Safety Council (NSC), 742 children died from heatstroke in cars between 1998 and 2017, an average of 37 people per year. In 2017 alone, the number of children who died because adults left them alone in cars in the sun was 42. The number in 2016 was 39 cases.
The NSC report found that 55% of parents or babysitters are unaware of leaving children in cars. When leaving, 27% of children find their way into their car. And 18% of parents or babysitters are conscious about leaving young children in cars.
In fact, parents or babysitters have no bad intentions when leaving their children in the car. However, seemingly harmless habits can lead to serious consequences. They may turn off the engine, leave the car to buy something. But under the sunWell, if the outside temperature is 35 degrees Celsius, then in 20 minutes, the cabin of a small car without air conditioning can reach 51 degrees Celsius. If the time is 30 minutes, the corresponding figure is nearly 60 degrees Celsius. High temperatures cause heatstroke in children, leading to death.
In the US, 21 states currently have laws related to the issue of "forgetting" children in cars. Eight of them consider this behavior a crime. While waiting to convince car manufacturers to add technology to remind adults, there are many recommendations.for parentsof child safety organizations such as placing items: wallet, phone, laptop in the back seat to remind yourself to always look before leaving the car.
