Proposal to increase clean water prices in the province
(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of September 17, Comrade Le Xuan Dai - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee chaired a meeting with relevant departments, branches and units to listen to and give opinions on the draft Decision regulating the consumption price of clean water products in urban areas in the province produced and supplied by Nghe An Water Supply Joint Stock Company.
Currently, in the province, 18/21 districts, cities and towns have clean water supply systems with a total designed capacity of 110,000m3/day and night, managed and operated by 6 water supply units.
The average rate of urban residents using clean water is about 80%. Of which, the largest proportion is held by Nghe An Water Supply Joint Stock Company, which is currently managing 13 water supply systems, supplying 13 urban areas and surrounding areas, with a total designed capacity of 96,000m3/day and night, accounting for over 87% of total capacity.

According to the report of the Department of Finance, after 2 years of implementation, the clean water consumption price according to Decision 37/2016/QD-UBND and Decision No. 42/2016/QD-UBND of the Provincial People's Committee is no longer suitable because: Raw water price, production investment cost, number of workers and depreciation cost (maintenance, repair, system upgrade), sales cost have all increased; the price frame for clean water consumption of the Ministry of Finance has changed.
Accordingly, the average clean water consumption price is expected to be adjusted this time according to the calculation of the Department of Finance, which will be 10,600 VND/m3(compared to the current price of 8,600 VND/m)3)The average price of clean water in Vinh City and surrounding areas according to the draft is expected to be 11,200 VND/m3(compared to the current price of 8,800 VND/m)3) and the expected average clean water price in the remaining areas is 8,000 VND/m3 (compared to the current price of 7,600 VND/m)3).

Emphasizing the need to adjust the clean water price framework, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Xuan Dai said: Clean water price is an issue related to people's lives, so the Department of Finance needs to calculate and consider factors affecting the price in a specific and accurate manner. Particularly, Nghe An Water Supply Joint Stock Company needs to have a plan on labor, cost-saving solutions; management to reduce prices, ensuring the rights of the people.
The Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also requested the Department of Finance to absorb opinions and complete the decision on regulating the consumption price of clean water products in urban areas to submit to the upcoming meeting of the Provincial People's Committee./.
