The proposal is to increase the basic salary to 1,150,000 VND/month from July 1st.

The Ministry of Interior is drafting a Decree stipulating the basic salary for officials, civil servants, public employees, and members of the armed forces. One of the notable contents in this draft is the proposal to raise the basic salary to 1,150,000 VND/month.

According to the draft Decree, the Ministry of Interior proposes setting the basic salary level applicable from July 1, 2013 at 1,150,000 VND/month (an increase of 9.5% compared to the current minimum wage of 1,050,000 VND/month).

The base salary serves as the basis for calculating salaries in salary scales, salary allowances, and implementing other regulations as prescribed by law for the subjects specified in Article 2 of this Decree.

The estimated additional cost to implement the basic salary of VND 1,150,000/month from July 1, 2013, for officials, civil servants, public employees, and members of the armed forces is VND 21,700 billion.
