Trinh's music night commemorates the late musician "Old Diem"
(Baonghean.vn) – 15 years ago (April 1, 2001), the talented musician Trinh Cong Son returned to dust. On this day every year, music lovers gather together to absorb his beautiful melodies and lyrics.
“Which speck of dust will become my body, so that one day it will grow into a large form, oh wonderful dust, the sun will shine on a wandering scene…”- the space of Sonata tea room is imbued with the quiet, nostalgic color of the melody “Dust”. People who have never met each other, sit together, let their hearts sink in the flood of emotions, remembering the talented musician who created a unique genre of music in Vietnamese music - Trinh’s music.
Minh Vuong is one of the few singers in Nghe An who successfully sings Trinh's music and is loved by the Trinh music community. After graduating from Nghe An College of Arts, he went to the South to start a career. Although he was not very successful in his career and returned to his hometown to become a farmer, his love for Trinh's music remains intact and for the past 10 years he has been singing Trinh's music at some tea rooms in Vinh city when invited. The Trinh music community in Vinh often calls him the "farmer" singer.
“I came across Trinh’s music when my life seemed to be at a dead end, but the humanistic philosophies in the lyrics nurtured in me a love for life and people. Drawing on the very real, holy, compassionate songs of Trinh’s music, I told myself “don’t despair” and I stood up and continued to move forward stronger” – the “farmer” singer who sings Trinh’s music confided.

While sipping a cup of bitter coffee, calm your mind with the melodies: Diem Xua, Ha Trang, Nhu Canh Vac Bay, Tuoi Nao Cho Em... Trinh's music seems to shorten all distances, erase age and harmonize souls. Mr. Nguyen Quang Hoa (Quan Bau ward, Vinh city) is over 60 years old, loves Trinh's music, he never misses a music night at this tea room, confides:
“I don’t remember when I came to love Trinh’s music, I just know that in my heart, the philosophical lyrics of life keep ringing out every time I experience emotions of sadness, joy, love, and anger in this life. Listening to Trinh’s music is to reflect on life, human destiny, to feel the noble value of life and to feel the purity of the heart and to feel that life is to give and receive love “living in life requires a heart”.

For over 10 years now, every year on the anniversary of musician Trinh Cong Son’s death, members of the Trinh music lovers and singers group led by Mr. Ho Xuan Kien, a lecturer at Vinh University, reunite. Because for them, Trinh music is like flesh and blood, the reason for living is the bridge connecting people to people:
“When I was a student, we opened a Trinh music cafe called “Vong Quan” to satisfy our passion. Singing Trinh music to me is an experience, a contemplation of life and a self-conclusion of ideas about this life. Singing Trinh music is like singing about my own life and the people around me. That is why, after our student music group disbanded, Trinh music was still a common love, connecting friends together.
Life is so busy, there is little time for each other, but when we sit together and sing Trinh's songs, we can express ourselves, share, sympathize and be loved. And to remember him, every year the group reunites, sometimes at a small sidewalk cafe, a familiar coffee shop..."
