Traffic lights 'went out', truck sped away at the intersection of National Highway 1A and Road N5

(Baonghean.vn) - On the evening of November 6, at the intersection of National Highway 1A and Road N5 - one of the hottest traffic accident spots in Nghe An, the traffic lights were not working, causing traffic to be chaotic and unsafe.

N5 intersection with National Highway 1A located in Nghi Long commune, Nghi Loc district, after more than 2 years of opening, has become a "death" intersection in Nghe An when many traffic accidents have occurred continuously. After Nghe An Newspaper reported on the unsafe traffic situation, a traffic light system was installed in this area with a cost of over 2 billion VND.

However, on the evening of November 6, the traffic lights at this intersection "went out", and the area did not have a lighting system, causing the area to be shrouded in darkness, with vehicles "running on their own" which was extremely dangerous.

According to the reporter's records, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on November 6, the number of vehicles passing through this intersection was very large, especially passenger buses on the North-South route and trucks carrying materials and cement from Song Lam Cement Factory (Do Luong) to Nghi Thiet Port (Nghi Loc). Because the traffic lights were not working, the traffic here was very chaotic and dangerous.

It is worth mentioning that because the road is so dark, in order to have better visibility, many vehicle owners have to turn on their high beams when passing through this deadly intersection. This inadvertently causes the vehicles going in the opposite direction to be dazzled, making it difficult to control the steering wheel, potentially posing a traffic accident risk.

Ms. NTN, Hamlet 3, Nghi Long Commune, living near this area shared: "This is not the first time the traffic lights at this intersection are not working, this situation happens from time to time, every time like that, we are very scared every time we cross the street, there have been many accidents at night due to the lack of traffic lights and lighting in this area...".
