Car lights and their importance

The lighting system on a car is not as simple as the lights on a motorbike, which is very common in Vietnam; it also has many other interesting functions that not everyone knows about.

Car lighting systems are increasingly equipped with advanced features.

Headlights (high beam) - low beam (low beam)

High and low beam headlights are usually housed together in the headlight assembly at the front of the vehicle and are responsible for illuminating the road ahead, helping the driver observe traffic conditions and obstacles so they can react in time.

Unlike the headlight assembly of a motorcycle, this headlight assembly is divided into two parts as follows:

- Headlights (high beam lights)It helps drivers have a wider field of vision, illuminating at a certain height to see traffic signs, enabling them to proactively handle problems on the road.

Headlights provide long-distance and wide-angle illumination, giving drivers a more comprehensive view at night.

Because of the function of car headlights, it is important to note that when driving at night, especially in crowded cities with many vehicles on the road, drivers must use low beam headlights instead of high beam headlights to avoid affecting oncoming drivers, causing them temporary blindness and reduced visibility, which can easily lead to accidents.

When driving in city streets or crowded areas, use low beam headlights to avoid dazzling other vehicles.

- Low beam headlights (for near-field lighting)Low beam headlights illuminate the road at a closer range, allowing drivers to see the road surface more clearly and easily avoid obstacles ahead. Therefore, when driving at high speeds, especially on highways where long-distance visibility is needed, using low beam headlights reduces visibility and makes it harder to react to situations quickly.

Turn signal lights

Turn signals are easily recognizable; they are typically located on either side of the vehicle and are typically orange-yellow. Their purpose is to signal to other vehicles the direction of the turn signal or to indicate an overtaking maneuver. By regulation, turn signals must be integrated into the rearview mirrors, the rear of the vehicle, and the front of the vehicle, and they will illuminate simultaneously when the driver activates/activates the turn signal.

Turn signals (orange) are used to indicate the direction of change.

Additionally, turn signals also function as hazard lights – when this function is activated, the turn signals will simultaneously turn on and off continuously. Many people mistakenly believe that the Hazard Light function signals a request to go straight, but this is completely incorrect.

Taillights (rear lights)

Taillights, also known as rear lights, are located at the rear of the vehicle and include the daytime running lights, brake lights, and reverse lights. Taillights have many functions, but their main purpose is to indicate the vehicle's position and distance, and to illuminate when the brakes are applied, alerting vehicles behind.

On some high-end cars, the more force the driver applies to the brakes, the brighter the taillights become, allowing drivers behind to sense the warning and slow down, thus minimizing rear-end collisions. In addition to these functions, the taillight assembly also contains a white light to warn of reversing when the driver shifts into reverse gear.
