Car Lights and Their Importance
The car lighting system is not as simple as the motorbike lighting system which is very popular in Vietnam but also has many other interesting functions that not everyone knows clearly.

Car lighting systems are increasingly equipped with special features. |
Headlights (high beam) - low beams (low beam)
Low beam headlights are usually placed together in the headlight cluster at the front of the vehicle to illuminate the road ahead, helping the driver observe traffic conditions and obstacles to handle them promptly.
Unlike the headlight cluster of a motorbike, this lighting cluster is divided into two parts as follows:
- Headlights (high beam)Helps drivers have a longer vision, can illuminate at a certain height to see traffic signs, helping drivers proactively handle problems on the road.
Headlights have the ability to illuminate far and wide, helping the driver have a more comprehensive vision at night. |
Because of the function of car headlights, it is necessary to pay attention when driving at night, especially in crowded cities with many vehicles participating in traffic. Drivers must use low beams instead of high beams to avoid affecting drivers of oncoming vehicles, causing them to be temporarily blinded and reduce visibility, which can easily lead to accidents.
When moving in the city or crowded places, you should use low beams to avoid dazzling other vehicles. |
- Low beam (near light)for light at a closer range, the light shines down on the road surface to help drivers observe the road surface, easily avoid obstacles ahead. Therefore, when moving at high speed, especially on the highway requiring long-distance vision, turning on low beam makes you observe less and difficult to handle situations early.
Signal lights
Turn signals are easy to recognize, they are regulated to be located on both sides of the vehicle body and are orange-yellow for easy recognition. The function of this light is for drivers to signal the direction of the turn signal to surrounding vehicles to move in the direction of the turn signal or signal to pass another vehicle in front. According to mandatory regulations, turn signals must be integrated right on the rearview mirror, the rear of the vehicle and at the front of the vehicle, they will light up at the same time when the driver presses/switches the turn signal to ask for the right of way.
Turn signals (orange) are used to indicate direction of travel. |
In addition, the turn signal also acts as a hazard warning light (Hazard Light) - when this function is turned on, the turn signal lights will turn on/off continuously. Many people mistakenly think that the Hazard Light function signals to go straight, in fact that is completely wrong.
Tail lights (tail lights)
The taillights are also called taillights because they are located at the rear of the car, including the position lights, brake lights, and reverse lights. The taillights have many functions, but the main function is still to notify the distance of the car and light up every time the brakes are applied to let the vehicles behind know.
On some high-end cars, the stronger the driver applies the brake force, the brighter the taillights become, allowing the driver of the vehicle behind to sense it and reduce speed to help minimize rear-end collisions. In addition to the above functions, inside the taillight cluster there is also a white light to warn of reversing when the driver shifts into reverse.
