Vinh University: Responding to "Vietnam Book Day" April 21
(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of April 21, Vinh University coordinated with the Political Department of Military Region 4 to organize a program to respond to "Vietnam Book Day (April 21, 2014)" and to celebrate "World Book and Copyright Day (April 23, 2014)". Attending the event were representatives of the Provincial Party Committee, school leaders, representatives of Military Region 4 and many students of Vinh University.
On February 24, 2014, the Prime Minister issued a Decision to designate April 21 every year as “Vietnam Book Day”. This is an event organized on a national scale to affirm the role, position and importance of books in social life, and to encourage the movement of reading books and newspapers to become a cultural beauty of Vietnamese people in the new era.

At the same time, it honors those who participate in collecting, composing, publishing, distributing, preserving and promoting books. Thereby, “Vietnam Book Day” contributes to raising the responsibility of all levels, sectors, social organizations and schools in contributing to building and developing a reading culture in Vietnam.

At the program, the Organizing Committee also introduced a number of books by authors around the world that have been translated and published in Vietnam and awarded prizes to poor but excellent students of Vinh University's specialized high school system.
