Man sentenced to death for selling cows and carrying drugs
(Baonghean.vn) - While going to Laos to buy buffalo and cows, Tong met a local man. Later, Tong was asked by this man to sell drugs. With a large amount of drugs, Tong was sentenced to death.
On November 25, Nghe An Provincial People's Court opened a first-instance criminal trial of defendant Tho Ba Tong (born 1998), residing in Tri Le commune, Que Phong district.about the crime"Illegal drug trafficking".
According to the indictment, in 2019, while going to Hua Phan province (Laos) to buy buffalo and cows, Tho Ba Tong met a man named Mua Ba Mua.
On June 18, 2021, Mua called Tong to deliver drugs to a Vietnamese customer and then collect the money. Immediately after, Tong went to the mountainous area to meet Mua to receive 1 heroin cake and 90 packages of drugs (with a total weight of more than 2.1 kg). Mua promised to pay Tong 2 million VND.

At dawn on June 19, following Mua's instructions, Tong took the drugs to deliver to a customer. While on the road, Tong was arrested by the police with the evidence.
At the trial, Tho Ba Tong confessed that because he lived in a poor area, did not go to school, and was illiterate, his legal awareness was limited. The defendant expressed remorse and burst into tears when mentioning his wife and children.
The panel of judges determined that in this case the defendant had many mitigating circumstances such as good character and honest confession.
However, with an exceptionally large amount of drugs, the People's Court sentenced defendant Tho Ba Tong to death for the crime of "Illegal drug trafficking".
