Going to karaoke, 'carrying' drugs to use, young man receives 18 years in prison
(Baonghean.vn) - To have various types of drugs to use, Trung ordered large amounts of money. Once he had the "goods", this young man divided them into small amounts and hid them for later use. Once, when he brought drugs to a karaoke bar, this subject was arrested.
Nghe An Provincial People's Court has just opened a first-instance trial for Nguyen Tai Trung (31 years old), residing in Thu Thuy ward, Cua Lo town, for the crime of "Illegal possession of narcotics".
Previously, on August 12, 2019, Nguyen Tai Trung called a man named Hieu (born in 1991, residing in Tan Lac town, Quy Chau district) to buy 10 packages of pink phien for 38 million VND. Hieu asked Trung to lend him 30 million VND in advance.
At around 3am on August 13, Trung called Hieu to ask if he had the drugs. Hieu told Trung to go to a hotel in Vinh City to get them. Trung took a taxi from his house to the hotel, got the drugs and paid the remaining amount to Hieu. After getting the “goods”, Trung went home.

At around 8am the same day, Trung continued to call Hieu to ask if he had crystal meth. Hieu answered “yes”. Trung ordered 30 million VND worth of drugs and arranged to pick up the “goods” at another hotel in Vinh City. At the meeting point, Trung gave Hieu 30 million VND to get 3 packages of drugs. Trung put the drugs in a leather bag and took them home.
At around 4pm that same day, Trung borrowed a friend’s motorbike to go home, took 5 packets of opium, put them in a glasses case and put them in a leather bag. Then, Trung took the remaining drugs (5 packets of drugs) and 1 plastic bag of crystal meth, put them in a cardboard box and put them in the trunk of his motorbike.
Trung then drove his motorbike to a karaoke bar in Nghi Lam commune. When he arrived at the karaoke bar, Nguyen Tai Trung was checked by the authorities. When searched, Trung confessed that he bought the drugs for his own use and declared that the drugs were in the trunk of his motorbike.
The seized exhibits were drugs in the form of pink tablets weighing 185.300g; a sample of white crystalline substance was drugs weighing 63.400g; more than 68g of heroin.
At the trial, defendant Trung admitted all his crimes. The defendant said he spent 68 million VND to buy drugs for his own use.
For the act of "Illegal possession of drugs", Nguyen Tai Trung was sentenced to 18 years in prison.
