(Baonghean.vn) - Ram Temple is a famous National Historical and Architectural-Artistic Monument, but it is in danger of being turned into ruins. The mangrove forest is deteriorating and becoming increasingly damaged, causing much regret among the local people.

The Ram Temple complex includes the Inner Ram Temple, the Outer Ram Temple, a pagoda, and a shrine. The Inner Ram Temple is dedicated to Le Lo, Cao Son, and Cao Cac; the Outer Ram Temple is dedicated to Nguyen Quang Hop; the pagoda is dedicated to Buddha; and the shrine is dedicated to deities revered by the people. The temple was built in 1831 and completed in 1832. Since then, it has become an important spiritual site for the people of Hung Nhan commune, Hung Nguyen district.

Due to its location in a low-lying area surrounded by rice fields, the temple is always flooded during heavy rains. This has led to serious damage from termites and deterioration. Pictured is the main worship hall - a key component of the Rậm Temple complex.

It is known that in 1988-1989, the main hall of the temple was completely destroyed by fire. Due to a lack of funds for reconstruction, the local people had to move the left wing of the temple to this location as a replacement.

The foundation of the left wing of the temple remains abandoned to this day, causing an imbalance in the structure of the Rậm temple complex.

Many experts consider this to be one of the few relics in our country that harmoniously combines folk art with courtly elements from the post-17th century in its architecture and carvings. This is one of the important factors that helped Den Ram Temple become a National Historical and Architectural Artistic Monument.

The Rậm Temple is also proudly considered by the locals as their "National Academy" because it still has stone steles recording the names of the Doctors of Philosophy who achieved high scores in the imperial examinations. According to Mr. Pham Van Tam (the temple's caretaker), the stone steles used to be kept in the sanctuary, but due to war and the passage of time, many have been lost. Now, only one stele remains in the main hall.

Although the landscape and overall architecture of the ancient site have changed, been lost, and damaged, the remaining Ram Temple (Inner and Outer) still contain immense historical, cultural, architectural, and artistic values.

The rafters, beams, and brackets of the temple are all intricately carved, depicting a variety of rich themes such as fish leaping over the dragon gate, carp transforming into dragons, and plum blossoms turning into mythical creatures, all in a vivid and sophisticated manner.

Despite being a unique complex encompassing both temples and pagodas, and recognized as a National Historical and Architectural-Artistic Monument, the Ram Temple complex has yet to attract many visitors due to its deterioration and damage.

In 2010, the temple received 100 million VND in funding for restoration. However, even with that amount, only a few severely damaged items could be restored.
