African swine fever continues to spread to two communes in Quynh Luu
(Baonghean.vn) - On June 4, Quynh Luu district recorded 3 more outbreaks and 2 new localities with African swine fever, Quynh Tan and Quynh Yen communes, with a total of 16 pigs having to be destroyed, weighing nearly 500 kg.
Previously, the Quynh Luu District Veterinary Station inspected and took samples of sick and dead pigs at three households: Nguyen Thi Hoa in village 5, Quynh Hong commune; Ho Thi To in village 11, Quynh Yen commune and Nguyen Dinh Tan in village 9, Quynh Tan commune.Test results showed that all samples were positive for African swine fever.
Although the People's Committee of Quynh Luu district has not yet issued a document announcing the epidemic in these two communes, on the morning of June 4, the localities coordinated with the district's Veterinary Department to proactively destroy the pig herd according to regulations.

After discovering a sick or dead pig, the family strictly followed the regulations and immediately reported it to the veterinary agency, not hiding the disease. If the family's pig unfortunately caught the disease, it should not be spread to other households.
Quynh Tan is a commune with a relatively large pig herd of over 5,000 pigs. Last week, 5 households in hamlets 8 and 9 had sick pigs die, and so far 41 pigs have died. However, the test results only showed that Mr. Nguyen Canh Tan's family was positive for African swine fever.
Mr. Nguyen Dinh Binh - Secretary of the Quynh Tan Commune Party Committee said: Due to the large area and bordering the two epidemic areas of Quynh Van and Quynh Xuan (Hoang Mai town), after receiving positive results, the locality held a meeting and implemented urgent measures to fight the epidemic. Currently, in addition to 35 liters of chemicals provided by the province and district, the locality has also proactively funded the purchase of 3 tons of lime powder and set up 5 checkpoints on main roads and inter-commune roads to control and prevent the spread of the epidemic.

African swine fever is still spreading widely, the number of affected communes is constantly increasing. In addition to making an urgent request for an additional 276 liters of chemicals to provide to 5 communes with new outbreaks, the station also coordinated with the district People's Committee to organize training for veterinary staff in communes and towns to know how to collect samples for timely testing.
Thus, after Quynh Luu district announced the end of African swine fever in Quynh My and Quynh Hung communes, up to now, the district has had 9 new outbreaks in 8 communes: Son Hai, Quynh Luong, Quynh Bang, Quynh Hong, Quynh Hau, Quynh Van, Quynh Tan, Quynh Yen (of which Quynh Hong has 2 outbreaks).
