Since the beginning of December, children's toy stores onNguyen Van Cu Street(Vinh City) has launched a Santa Claus gift delivery service to customers in need. Accordingly, customers can come directly to the store to choose gifts, wrap them, and the store will hire someone to play Santa Claus and deliver them to the recipient. Depending on the value of the order, the amount that customers have to pay for this ranges from 20,000 - 50,000 VND/turn.

Ms. Nguyen Minh Chau, the store owner, said: “The store started this service last year, when the pandemic became complicated, the demand from parents for ordering gifts online and having them delivered to their homes during Christmas increased. Last year, the store was full of orders for Santa Claus to deliver gifts. This year, the service continues to be deployed, and there are currently many orders placed in advance. But the busiest time is December 20-24.”

Not only children's toy stores but also many bakeries and coffee shops have implemented this service to attract customers and stimulate shopping. In addition to decorating the shop space with Christmas trees, colored lights, Santa Claus... these stores also have Santa Claus service serving cakes and coffee to the table; delivering cakes and coffee to the place with an additional charge of 5,000-10,000 VND/order.

This service is also available tosupermarketLarge shopping malls, bookstores apply. For orders of children's items, fashion, shoes, books, toys... from 300,000 VND or more, with a delivery address within a radius of less than 5km, Santa Claus will deliver free of charge to your home. If the order is far away, with low value, an additional 10,000-20,000 VND will be collected (depending on the distance).

Mr. Nguyen Manh Phu, a parent, said: “Children are very excited when Santa Claus gives them gifts. Therefore, this Christmas, I ordered two sets of toys from the supermarket and scheduled them to be delivered to my two daughters’ homes on December 20. This service is quite convenient and the price is also quite reasonable.”

Previously, the delivery of Christmas gifts was mainly done by the Provincial Post Office. However, with the increasing demand today, this service has become popular and flourished, many individuals and groups have implemented the Santa Claus gift delivery service.

On Christmas, they schedule and advertise their services on their personal Facebook, fanpage, and group pages; accordingly, they accept purchases and wrap gifts as requested; or come to the place to pick up the gifts and Santa Claus will deliver the gifts according to the schedule set by the customer.

There are also individuals who stand up to buy gifts and hire shippers to play the role of Santa Claus to give them to the recipients, take souvenir photos, and interact with the children. Due to increasing competition, the prices offered by each unit are also "softer". The average price for a gift delivery order is about 30,000 - 50,000 VND (in the city area). This price may increase depending on the location and time of receiving the gift.

Ms. Tran Phuong Thao, a Santa Claus gift delivery service provider, said: “After 2 Christmas seasons being suspended due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, this year, Santa Claus gift delivery service providers have started up again. From the beginning of November, I received orders from customers and from mid-December, I started to “return orders”. The peak time is from December 20-25.”

Not only in the city but also in rural areas, this service has begun to expand. Ms. Nguyen Thi Hai Ly, an employee of Thanh Chuong bookstore, belonging to Nghe An School Equipment Book Joint Stock Company, said: "People's demand for gifts for children on this occasion is quite high. Accordingly, 8/13 bookstores of the system have implemented gift delivery service with a service price of about 30,000-40,000 VND/order. It is expected that from December 21-25, each bookstore will have about 70 orders for Santa Claus to deliver gifts."
