Vietnamese PhD among Silicon Valley's most impressive young faces

Artificial Intelligence PhD Vu Duy Thuc (35 years old, founder of OhmniLabs) is the only Vietnamese person voted by the prestigious American newspaper The Business Journals into the top 40 most impressive faces under 40 years old in Silicon Valley in 2017.

Vu Duy Thuc is not an unfamiliar name to the Vietnamese intellectual community in the US. The young doctor's achievements are outstanding in both academic and entrepreneurial fields.

The “Silicon Valley 40 under 40” list is selected by the newspaper's Editorial Board, which includes people with extensive experience and contributions to the overall development of Silicon Valley.

Previously, with OhmniLabs launching its first product - the Ohmni robot and reaching the crowdfunding target of 100,000 USD in less than 4 days, the Vietnamese name - Vu Duy Thuc created a "media fever" by appearing frequently on many major news agencies such as New York Times, CNN, CNBC, ABC, Washington Post...

The Vietnamese man earned a PhD in Information Technology (specializing in Artificial Intelligence) from Stanford University at the age of 28. He co-founded two companies, Katango and Tappy, which were acquired by Google and Weeby.co for tens of millions of dollars.

"This event has great spiritual significance, and is a recognition from American society for my efforts over the past time," he said.

Currently, Vu Duy Thuc is the co-founder and CEO of OhmniLabs, a company that specializes in providing connecting robots, suitable for everyone, especially the elderly who are not used to using technology, because they do not need to do any operations.

Quitting her job at Bloomberg, Vietnamese girl conquers the 4 harshest deserts in the world

Vu Phuong Thanh was not a professional athlete but an office worker before, her achievements surprised and impressed many people. Phuong Thanh was born and raised in Hanoi, studied in Canada and the UK before coming to work in Singapore. She had a good job position, even the dream of many people at the financial economic news agency Bloomberg in Singapore, but her desire to discover herself made the young girl "jump up" from her office chair.

Conquering the international multi-stage ultra-endurance race called “4 Deserts Grand Slam”, the Vietnamese girl completed 1000 km through 4 of the world’s wildest and harshest deserts in one year, including: the Sahara desert (the hottest desert in the world) held in Namibia (Africa), the Gobi desert (the windiest desert in the world) in China (Asia), the Atacama desert (the driest desert in the world) in Chile (America), and Antarctica (the coldest place in the world). This world-famous harsh competition is rarely the place where “pink shadows” appear. Up to now, the Vietnamese girl is 1 of 13 women worldwide and the first Asian woman to complete this challenge.

In 2016, Thanh ranked top 10 women and top 50 overall in desert races, and also placed first in the U29 women's group at the 2016 Gobi and Atacama races.

The adventurous and colorful life of this 9X girl makes many people admire.

2018 will be the year that Thanh aims to conquer the 230km Arctic Ultra race in the North Pole (5 stages in 5 days) and the 273km Grand to Grand race in North America (6 stages in 7 days). To complete the plan, the 9X girl has built for herself an extremely strict high-intensity training regimen. Thanh's training day lasts 5-6 hours starting from 6am to 12pm, running or doing activities equivalent to a distance of 100km/1 week.

8X Vietnamese creates "spaceship" comparable to developed countries

The unmanned "spaceship" successfully tested in space, created by Pham Gia Vinh - Director of Dong Giang Vietnam Research & Development Joint Stock Company and a group of Vietnamese aviation engineers, excels with the ability to fly at a ceiling 3-5 times higher than a normal aircraft.

On March 15, 2015, this 600kg “spaceship” was successfully tested for the second time at an altitude of 29.5km in Hyderabad city (India). After nearly 2 hours of flying in near space at this altitude, the “spaceship” carrying 3 white mice returned safely to Earth.

Asia News TVChanel News Asiaalso reported the event in detail. The channel quoted Mr. Lim Seng, founder and managing director of InGenius Group (Singapore), saying that the three mice returned safely after a trip that exceeded the Armstrong limit (the altitude at which air pressure is extremely low) using a stratospheric balloon. The flight lasted 110 minutes and reached an altitude of 29.5 km. "This is indeed a remarkable result."

In May 2017, Australian authorities granted permission for the “spaceship” of Dong Giang Company, founded by Master Pham Gia Vinh, to fly in the stratosphere with a crew.

This event marks a new development in the testing of flying instruments made by Pham Gia Vinh’s Dong Giang company and Vietnamese engineers. For his unmanned equipment to be tested in Australia, it requires meeting the most stringent conditions according to the world’s leading standards.

According to Mr. Vinh, the cooperation with Australian authorities to send people into the stratosphere has been agreed in principle by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority of Australia (CASA). However, CASA still requires the group to prove that the parachute recovery plan is safe.

Once the test is successful, Australia will officially allow manned flights. The expected time for manned flights is May 2018.

Up to now, Vietnam has never had a civil aircraft that can reach a ceiling of 30km. The "spaceship" of Pham Gia Vinh's group has far exceeded the operating range of civil aircraft, comparable to a few developed countries that possess the technology to manufacture aircraft with a ceiling of over 30km such as the US, France, Japan, Spain, India...

Vietnamese triplets have made their mark in the US by becoming the three people who graduated from Evolution Academy with the highest scores in 2017.

In 2012, the girls set foot in the United States and encountered many obstacles, especially the language barrier. In 2015, the family of the three sisters moved to South Texas with countless difficulties and forced all three to drop out of school. But in the end, wanting to bring pride to their parents, the three sisters worked together to overcome all barriers to focus on studying.

The Tran sisters are among the outstanding examples of Evolution Academy.

Sharing about the case of the Vietnamese triplets, Mr. Cynthia Trigg - founder of the academy emphasized:

“The case of the three sisters is quite common. They encountered many difficulties and obstacles in life and lacked confidence in themselves. But one thing they should remember is that how we start is not as important as how we finish.”
