Blind spots on cars and how to fix them

Blind spots on cars are one of the factors that are very difficult for drivers to overcome and are dangerous and can easily lead to collisions or even fatal accidents.

Blind spots on a car are understood as the space that the driver cannot observe or see through the outside rearview mirror when driving on the road or reversing. Especially when the car changes lanes, turns around at intersections...

This is a very dangerous factor because it can cause collisions or even fatal accidents. In particular, for larger vehicles, the blind spot also increases proportionally.

Below are some blind spots that drivers often encounter and how to fix them to limit them.

1. Blind spots on rearview mirrors

The outside rearview mirror is a technical detail that helps the driver observe both sides of the vehicle while driving. However, in many cases, the driver will not be able to observe all vehicles on both sides because they are in the blind spot of the mirror. This often causes unfortunate accidents for many people because they think both sides are safe.

Therefore, when driving a car and wanting to change lanes, cross the road, turn around... you should drive at a slow speed and carefully observe both sides or even look outside (under 3 seconds) to have the best visibility. Or you can install a small convex mirror in the left corner of the rearview mirror to increase visibility.

In addition, some modern car models are now equipped with a blind spot warning feature on the rearview mirror to help increase driving safety. This system works by scanning the radar and giving a warning signal on the rearview mirror if there is a vehicle in the blind spot.

2. Blind spot behind the vehicle

This is considered the largest space that the driver cannot observe through the rearview mirror as well as the naked eye. This blind spot has a fairly large range, extending several meters from the rear of the car to the rear. This often causes drivers to encounter unfortunate accidents when reversing.

Therefore, to overcome this disadvantage, the driver can equip the car with a reverse sensor or a rear camera. Or can get out of the car to observe the surroundings and behind before reversing.

3. Blind spot at front pillar (A-pillar)

The A-pillar (the pillar on both sides of the windshield) has the greatest influence on the formation of blind spots depending on the steering angle. Although not large, it can still be dangerous for the driver if not paying attention.

Therefore, when changing direction or turning around, the driver only needs to tilt his head to observe for the best viewing angle. In the case of mountain passes, with hairpin bends without warning mirrors on the side of the road, you should honk and flash your lights to send a warning signal every time you enter a bend.

4. Blind spot in front of the vehicle

High-chassis vehicles, pickup trucks, trucks... often have blind spots in front of the vehicle created by the height of the front of the vehicle, making it impossible for the driver to observe objects too close to the front of the vehicle. Therefore, when encountering trucks, large vehicles... traffic participants should keep a safe distance, should not drive too close, try to pass... because the driver may not see you and lead to unfortunate accidents.

At the same time, drivers should also reduce speed when driving through densely populated areas, schools, intersections, curves, etc., and at the same time, sense blind spots on the vehicle, and equip it with observation support tools (convex mirrors, cameras, sensors, etc.).

In addition, blind spots can also be created due to improper sitting posture adjustment or rearview mirrors not being adjusted to suit the driving position... Therefore, before getting in the car, the driver should get into the habit of adjusting the driver's seat and rearview mirrors to best suit himself to have the best visibility./.
