Dien Chau completed releasing 91 hectares of shrimp in the second crop

(Baonghean.vn) - Shrimp farmers in Dien Trung, Dien Thinh, Dien Van communes - Dien Chau district have completed raising 91 hectares of shrimp for the second crop.

Mr. Ngo Xuan Dai in Dien Trung bought shrimp seeds from Quang Binh, preparing to release them into the pond.

Due to the harsh weather, some shrimp died in the first crop, so the average yield was only 3 tons/ha. However, thanks to stable shrimp prices, farmers did not suffer losses. To prevent shrimp diseases, farmers carefully treated the ponds, increased the drying time, repaired and upgraded the dike system and the pipeline system to bring water from the sea.

After renovating ponds, starting from August, shrimp farmers in Dien Chau simultaneously started releasing shrimp for the second crop. Nearly 95 million white-leg shrimp were released in this crop. Dien Trung is the locality with the largest shrimp area with 55 hectares, an increase of more than 3 hectares compared to the first crop. Accordingly, 50 households have applied the VietGap model of farming, reducing the risk of disease.

Release shrimp into the pond

Dien Chau Veterinary Station has provided chemicals to spray disinfectants in the canals leading water to the shrimp farming area, and at the same time recommended that people raise shrimp according to biosafety. Propaganda and mobilization of people to raise shrimp according to technical procedures, choosing to raise quality shrimp that have passed quarantine.

Caring for newly released shrimp

It is expected that the second crop of shrimp will be harvested by Dien Chau people in November, and households with conditions will continue to release shrimp for the third crop.
