The advantage of bean plants is that they are less susceptible to pests and diseases and have a short growing period. It only takes 70 days from sowing to harvest. On the other hand, the cost of intensive cultivation per sao is only about 200,000 VND for seeds and fertilizer.
Currently, Dien Chau farmers are focusing on mass harvesting of summer-autumn beans; the average yield is 60 - 70kg/sao. With the current selling price of 30,000 VND/kg, each sao of beans brings in 1.8 - 2 million VND, which is higher than growing rice in this summer-autumn crop.

With an area of over 100 hectares converted, people earned about 4 billion VND from growing beans. The success of growing beans has affirmed the right direction in converting drought-resistant crops, suitable for the current climate change situation, especially when the output market for beans is very easy.
