Dien Chau district has built 164 models for applying science and technology.

(Baonghean.vn) - On December 23, Dien Chau district organized a workshop to evaluate the effectiveness of applying scientific and technological advancements during the 2011-2015 period and discuss solutions for replicating successful models throughout the district.

Over the past five years, Dien Chau district has developed and effectively implemented 164 models applying science and technology in the fields of crop cultivation, livestock farming, forestry, fisheries, and the application of science and technology in building large-scale model fields, information technology in education, etc. Of these, the most numerous are applications of science and technology in crop cultivation, with 134 models accounting for nearly 82%.

Typically, rice cultivation with many high-quality varieties, combined with the SRI intensive farming method, has yielded 60-70 quintals/hectare, with an average income of 40-45 million VND/hectare/season, an increase of 15-20% compared to conventional production. Vegetable and fruit models applying science and technology have brought in incomes from 60 to over 100 million VND/hectare.

Vegetable production following the VietGAP model is also proving economically effective for farmers. Integrated economic models such as farms and family farms raising shrimp, crabs, and tilapia have brought in incomes exceeding 200 million VND per year. Some traditional crafts such as noodle making, mushroom cultivation, and clean salt production groups have also applied science and technology in production, contributing to increased productivity and value for the people.

The conference also discussed solutions for replicating the model of applying scientific and technological advancements in the 2015-2020 period, focusing on market demand, policy mechanisms, and loan capital to support farmers in replicating the model, contributing to increasing value per unit area and meeting the income criteria in the New Rural Development program in Dien Chau.
