Dien Chau: Tanker truck crashes into truck, driver trapped in cabin.

(Baonghean.vn) - At 11:20 PM on April 1, 2014, a traffic accident involving two cars in Dien Chau district caused a prolonged traffic jam on National Highway 1A, affecting both Dien Chau and Quynh Luu districts. Two trucks were severely damaged, and one driver was in critical condition.

At the time of the incident, a truck with license plate 37N 2598 carrying a dry cement tanker with license plate 37R 0096 was traveling on National Highway 1A at kilometer 409 + 700 (in Dien Truong commune, Dien Chau district, Nghe An province) in the direction of Hanoi – Vinh when it suddenly rear-ended a truck with license plate 29D 4733 traveling in the same direction ahead. The impact was so strong that the front of the tanker was crushed, and one person (whose identity has not yet been determined) was seriously injured and trapped inside the tanker. Local residents pried open the door and took the person to the hospital that night.

Traffic police are directing the removal of the damaged vehicle from the scene.

The accident caused severe traffic congestion stretching for tens of kilometers on the road under construction on both sides during the night. The Dien Chau traffic police team promptly arrived to clear the congestion and regulate traffic.

According to the driver of vehicle 29D 4733, which was rear-ended, he noticed the tanker truck driver dozing off while driving alongside him in Thanh Hoa. He overtook him beforehand, and when the tanker truck driver suddenly woke up and encountered a patrolling traffic police officer, he crashed into his vehicle, causing him minor injuries.
