(Baonghean)Dien Dong (Dien Chau) commune was established in August 1953 by separating from Tan Thai commune. The commune has a population of nearly 5,000 people, a total natural land area of 486.26 hectares, of which agricultural land accounts for 300.05 hectares.

Over the past 60 years of its formation and development, under the leadership of the Party, like many other villages, the people of Dien Dong have united, persevered, and worked together to build a more prosperous homeland.

From the revolutionary high tide (30-31) to the national democratic movement (36-39), the movement to build the Viet Minh base leading to the general uprising to seize revolutionary power (41-45), and during the resistance war against French colonialism, the Party Committee and people of Dien Dong commune simultaneously built and consolidated the revolutionary government while gradually stabilizing the lives of the people, actively preparing human and material resources, and contributing to the overall victory of the whole country. After the victory over French colonialism, Dien Dong, along with the rest of the country, entered the period of economic recovery and reform and implemented the Party's first five-year plan.

During the period 1965-1975, under the leadership of the Party, amidst the national spirit, the Party Committee and people of Dien Dong simultaneously engaged in production, combat, and combat support, with the slogan "not a single grain of rice is lacking, not a single soldier is lacking," contributing to the victory against the destructive war waged by the American imperialists, the reunification of the Fatherland, and joining the whole country in building socialism.

With the goal of building a homeland that is economically prosperous, politically strong, secure, and civilized in terms of national defense and living standards, over the past years, the Party Committee and people of Dien Dong have overcome many difficulties to fulfill the targets set forth in the Resolution of the Commune Party Congress. In particular, in 2012, the total value of production increased by 12%, and the average per capita income reached 21,217,000 VND/person/year.

To date, the commune has 19 cars, 65 plows, 33 rice threshing machines, 9 wood sawing machines, and thousands of other machines and equipment serving transportation, daily life, and audiovisual purposes. There are 229 households engaged in business and trade, 485 households with supplementary occupations, and 104 people working abroad… The movement to build a cultured way of life is given attention, with 86.8% of families in the commune meeting the standards of a cultured family. The commune has a kindergarten, primary school, and health station that meet national standards.

Based on the resolution of the Party Congress of Dien Dong commune for the 2010-2015 term, with the central task identified as continuing economic development and ensuring social security to make Dien Dong a top-performing commune in the district, the local Party Committee and government focused on implementing the new rural development project. This served as both a goal and a driving force for overall growth. Based on a review according to standards and models, the commune compiled and identified 8 unmet criteria to focus on, and revised the rural development plan with key indicators such as: combining agricultural production with the promotion of livestock development, prioritizing commercial services and income generation.

The goal is to achieve an average per capita income of 30-35 million VND per year by 2015, and reduce the poverty rate to below 5%. To achieve this target, the commune is gradually shifting its economic structure towards reducing the proportion of agriculture and increasing the proportion of industry, handicrafts, and construction. 7.4 hectares of rice paddy land will be converted to a concentrated livestock farming area and a small-scale handicraft zone. Currently, the commune is focusing on directing farmers to quickly consolidate land plots in accordance with Directive 08 of the Provincial Party Committee.

Building on the traditions of the past 60 years, the Party Committee and people of Dien Dong are committed to striving to build and develop their homeland into an increasingly prosperous and strong place.
