"In the Kremlin we do not engage in linguistic analysis. Like Russian, English is very rich, and, of course, some politicians like to use the richness of their native language, we have nothing to comment on," Peskov told reporters in response to a request for comment on Trump's remarks, who called the Russian president "tough."
During the interview with Fox News, Trump was asked to briefly describe various politicians and entertainers. In particular, he was asked how he would describe Putin. "I don't know him, but he's tough. I don't know what he's doing for Russia, but we'll find out at some point," said President Trump. In the original, Trump used the American idiom tough cookie, which literally means "tough cookie."
